Braden has a Little DISTER!

We are ECSTATIC to announce the birth of our sweet baby GIRL,
Elyse Katharine Moore
04.08.10
7lbs/14oz
18.5inches long
and absolutely precious!
...she looks like her brothers twin, but with dainty princess features & blond hair.

Wednesday, April 7th started off as any ordinary day for us. We headed into SLO for our weekly doc appt for Tiny Tot where my doc told me after my exam that I was dilated to 2cm...this didn't really mean anything to me because you can be dilated at 2cm for weeks. So we went about the day trying not to get our hopes up. My Mom was with us as we had my Mom come into town a few days prior to help with loose ends before the Tiny Tot made it's arrival. She helped me TREMENDOUSLY with Braden while Jess was busy wrapping up tax season. After the doc appt we picked up lunch and headed to the park for some play and to hang out with Jess on his lunch. We were there for several hours and then we headed home. When we got home my Mom, Braden & I took a walk and then played out back. I was having contractions, but nothing out of the ordinary. About an hour later they did seem to be starting to get a little more regular, so I took a shower & got ready thinking "tonight has to be the night". You would think after going through labor once already with Braden that you would just KNOW when it is going to happen...not true, your body loves to mess with your head! Haha! Okay, back on track...I take a shower, get ready & then go outside to play some more...we are all relaxing out back and Jess gets home, we take another family walk, we get some dinner and then my sister & her hubby come over to watch American Idol with us...as we were watching AI my contractions were consistently at 4-5 minutes apart, but not hurting one bit. Around 9:30pm I call my doc just to give him a heads up that tonight might be the night. Around 10:30pm Britt & Cody head back to their hotel and I let Jess know that I am pretty sure we are going to be going to the hospital tonight so maybe he should get some shuteye before we have to leave. My Mom was hanging out downstairs with me as I was freakishly cleaning the house...I have no idea why, but I turn into crazy cleaning woman when I am in labor (I do nest as well earlier in my pregnancies, but this is just crazy nesting while in labor!)!! I remember when I went into labor with Braden the house didn't have so much as a speck of dust when we left for the hospital. I bet Jesse would love it if I got that kick more than when I'm in labor!! :) So, 11:30pm rolls around and they are about 3-4 minutes apart, but not hurting me one bit...my doc was afraid I was going to have a fast delivery, so I figure I might as well get to the hospital as I was confident THIS WAS IT! Jess gets up, showers, grabs our stuff & we are off to the hospital ~ we checked in around 12:30AM and I was still at 2cm...talk about f-r-u-s-t-r-a-t-i-n-g. I thought for sure they were going to send me home if my labor didn't pick up a bit. After just about an hour of being there they could tell on the monitors that I was in active labor, I quickly progressed to 3cm, then to 5cm, then to 8cm...and before I knew it, it was 7:30AM and I was BEYOND READY to push! My doctor was in surgery from 7-9AM and I really wanted him to deliver Elyse - as he had delivered Braden and we absolutely ADORE him, however I knew my body couldn't wait & I would have to take the "on-call" doctor. The nurses kept telling me "you can't push yet, you are almost to 10cm - try to sit through at least 2 more contractions!!" ...I'm thinking to myself "you obviously have never given birth because if you have you would know you CANNOT JUST WAIT!!!"...so, I didn't wait, I (as politely as possible) let them know I could no longer wait and I HAD TO PUSH!! So, I pushed and baby girl's head was out before the doc could get there...I pushed 2x and SHE WAS HERE! It was absolutely incredible to deliver naturally again!! Both Jesse & I totally forgot to see what we had - was it a boy or girl?? Everything went so incredibly fast we just plain forgot...the doctor said "did you see what you have?" and although Jesse thought we were having a girl, I was just SHOCKED to see a little baby girl...my dream came true - I always wanted a boy first, then a girl and then the other 10 I didn't care what they were just so long as all were healthy :) They quickly put Elyse on me so I could see her, but she was blue - talk about having your heart absolutely broken...all of the sudden they swooped her away from me and whisked her off to a different part in my room to clean her lungs out - they then took her to the NICU as a precautionary to make sure she was OK. As you can imagine, Jess & I were a bit shaken up as she didn't scream, she didn't respond and then having to be taken to the NICU beyond scared us. It turned out that there was a true knot in the umbilical cord & the cord was actually around her neck when she came out. Praise the Lord we had an extremely long umbilical cord because the doctors believe that is what really helped Elyse. They had her back to us within 20minutes or so and thankfully her apgar scores were great and everything checked out just fine!! I had the best birth coach in the world, my amazing hubby...he helped me deliver both our kiddos & I couldn't have done it without him!!

Braden is doing great. Being only 22 months, he is still a baby as well and we are making sure we give him 110% of our attention so he doesn't feel replaced in any way. Hence why this blog post has taken so long to finish :) We are thankful that he adores loving on his little "dister" and are praying that they develop a best friend-like friendship with time. His terrible 2's are beginning to develop and we are learning how to be consistent in our actions of discipline and beginning time-outs...we have only done 1 time out so far & Braden thought it was hilarious - so please pray we learn how to make him know we are serious. He is the funniest kid & does the most witty things and I catch myself laughing which I know is a terrible example, so I'm working on that as well. He takes it ALL IN so we are really having to watch what we say & do around him! Clever kid.

We are finally getting somewhat of a routine down and are absolutely loving being a family of 4. Elyse eats & sleeps great. She is up quite a bit during the day and nighttime she has done really well adjusting. I wish when she pooped at night that it didn't wake her up because I'm certain she would be sleeping 7 hours already if it weren't for that :) She sleeps great so far, which I'm thankful for.
She eats like a champ, just like her big brother and is just as sweet as can be.
We picked out paint for her nursery a few days ago and Jesse is almost done painting her adorable nursery - I cannot wait to post the final product! I am not a very "pink" girl (I LOVE LOVE LOVE baby blue!), but ever since I met Elyse it is ALL ABOUT P-I-N-K!!! I must say I am still shocked I have a baby girl to love on. Having a son & daughter is so incredible and I am very thankful for 2 healthy kiddos.

Jesse is now off work for a bit since tax season is done and we are L-O-V-I-N-G our family time!

Thank you for all your thoughts/prayers/well wishes, we really appreciate it. I have a lot of fun videos I need to post & of course there will be lots more pics!

Oh! The poll!

Elyse was 6 days LATE, weighed LESS than her brother and we DID make it to the hospital :)

And last, but definitely not least pics of our adorable little Miss and Big Brother. We seriously have hundreds of pics already, I tried to narrow them down the best I could. Here are the first 10 days of Sweet Elyse's life. Enjoy!
