day one as a Mama of 2!

today was my first day alone with both the kiddos...Jess had to return to his job (too bad we aren't independently wealthy...would be awesome to have him home all the time!), my Mom has gone home...and it is me with my 2 lil lovies. the day went great! one of my bestest girlfriends made the trek up from Santa Barbara with her 2 boys to hang out and to meet Elyse. it was SO MUCH FUN and Braden loved having the boys over to play - since Daddy had gone back to the daily grind. I got up early so that I could get a shower in before starting the day...then got the little miss ready for the day...then my lil man ready for the day. we then head downstairs for breakfast and the lil miss seemed quite warm to me, so I got the thermometer out to take her temp and as I was taking her temp she peed all over herself...so the adorable sundress I had her all dolled up in had to be changed into another adorable girly outfit (yay! more laundry for Mama!)...as she peed on herself, Mr. B was playing in his playroom and runs out screaming...he had pooped & he needed to be changed...I thought to myself ever so quickly "OK, how can I change both of them when there is only 1 of ME?!"...I snuggle with B and let him know I need to get "dister" changed & into something dry and then we'll change his "poo-poo" and get something yummy for breakfast...I love that my son is so kick back and gave me a big hug and waited patiently. we then get breakfast - all sitting at the table together - well, lil miss was in her papasan chair being an on-looker, not actually at the table of course :) Braden & I sang his silly songs and then he bolted out the back door to play outside as soon as breakfast was done. and then shortly after my girlfriend, Rebecca & her kiddos arrived and we sat out back and played, lunched inside and played some more and then it was naptime. we had a great first day and I just A-D-O-R-E my kiddos, I LOVE LOVE LOVE being a Mama!!

do we have a routine yet?
of course not, but at least I know it's possible to be downstairs & ready for the day before 9:30AM so I'm happy :)

in other news, Elyse put on 5 ounces at her 2 week well check, she sleeps like a rockstar (just like her big bro!)...the lactation consultant even told me I shouldn't let her sleep 7.5hrs...I kindly nodded my head, but silently thought to myself "yup, you told me this with Braden & I refused to wake up my great sleeper just to eat - he will wake up if he's hungry...he so far has turned out great, so I think I'll stick to what works for me & my kiddos" :) Braden still absolutely adores his little dister and it's pretty cute that while I'm nursing her he brings her blanky & burp clothes over...such a doll he is!
